Sector Performance
2025 reflected a decisive rebound for technology M&A, with global deal value rising sharply despite largely flat transaction volumes. AI served as the primary catalyst, fuelling a wave of megadeals across semiconductors, cybersecurity, and digital infrastructure.
Strategic buyers and private equity firms prioritized transformative consolidation over speculative growth, targeting AI capabilities, compute, and data center capacity. Overall, the market shifted toward fewer, larger, high-conviction transactions, reflecting renewed confidence in long-term structural trends.
Hogan Lovells Activities
In 2025, our Technology team hosted two Silicon Valley M&A Forums, bringing together industry leaders to discuss how emerging technologies, particularly AI, are reshaping deal processes and contractual frameworks. Topics included regulatory trends, antitrust remedies, fraud and indemnity negotiations, and strategies for navigating tech M&A in an uncertain market.
We reinforced this focus by publishing an article on the U.S./UK Tech Prosperity Deal and hosting a webinar on IP transactions, showcasing our strength in complex technology deals. We also published our Data Center Brochure, highlighting investment trends and key considerations, and launched our inaugural UK AI Summit, exploring strategies and regulatory developments driving technology transactions.

The team is a tech-M&A powerhouse.”
